Bank holiday Monday Holy island

we drove 500 miles round trip and also visited a bee farm where we could buy some natural products. great lip balm according to sue. This is my great great great grandfather, John Askell.

We went to Mainsbank farm at Stamfordham this is where the Askell family came from John Askell started this farm and we found his resting in the graveyard. It was a dairy farm my mother was born here and lived here until she was three.

This is the statue of the saint who helped Christainity on the Island

The wind whips so hard it erodes the stones
The wind came aound the island really really fast I felt sorry for the horse sue loved the wind it tried reall hard to blow us over. we found some family names in the grave yard.Brighams came from this island. it is a very small island and peacefull and it is where Christianity started in england.
There was a strange man lurking on the island so sue took me home.

We decided to go to Holy island before sue went back to school and see where some of tony's ancestors came from. we left at night on sunday and camped in the van . we were a bit cold but threw some more blanketts on and we slept like toast. breakfast roadside cooked was egg and bacon and sausage. on the way to holy isalnd the angel of the north was near the motorway and as it is one of sues favourite sculptors Anthony Gormley she had to get a picture .We arrived at holy island and had to drive fast across the causeway as it gets cut off by the tide

We went to Burton Agnes for the day and went for a walk through the snowdrop woodland, wesaw some giant catepillars ants and a spider , we had hot chocolate and luke and James bought some dinosaurs Rebekah was very kind and gave the boys a pound each and grandma gave them a pound. we bought some snowdrops to grow in the garden . We liked the house and thought it would be nice if we bought it and lived in it together, everybody all chose a room to be theirs. We had a lovely time and decided we wanted to go back again in the summer .Especially the beach part as James was frozen at the beach and practically climbed in grandmas coat pocket to keep warm.Giant chess was a hitwe found our way to the centre at last.the lost boys in the maze grandad and Rebekah having a cuddle in the maze the boys shouting was giving rebekah a headache as they were shouting to sort out which way to gao in the maze.
